This week we are taking inspiration from the Joy of Christmas Suite from the September – December Mini Catalogue. This is another of my favourites in this catalogue.

I've chosen the project in the photo above from page 31 for my inspiration as the asymetric layout caught my eye.

I have followed the layout of the inspiration project pretty closely, but I've changed it up for a contemporary colour combo based on the lovely design from the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper with the green foliage and blue berries.

I started with a Thick Basic White card base and then cut another panel slightly smaller to give a narrow border and used the long dies from the Christmas Classics Dies to add some interest to the background.  The floral background paper has been framed in Blueberry Bushel with a tiny border to help it pop from the background.

The centrepiece is the long label die with the decorative foliage from the Christmas Classics Dies, cropped from Shaded Spruce Textured Shimmer Paper. Shaded Spruce isn't one of the colours listed as coordinating with the Winter Meadow DSP, but I think it works really well. I die cut just the foliage border from the frame from Blueberry Bushel card stock and cut off the berries and adhered them to the Shaded Spruce label. I added a piece of Shaded Spruce card stock behind the label to make it more robust for wrapping the white Baker's Twine around. The greeting was heat embossed in white on Blueberry Bushel card stock and cropped with the square die from the Christmas Classics Dies.  I layered all the elements together with some Silver Glimmer and Vellum pine branches under background and label. I finished with some silver Festive Pearls sprinkled about.

For the  inside, I have a Blueberry Bushel mat for the writing panel with a strip of the Winter Meadow paper on the right and the foliage and berries from the label die tucked underneath.

  1. Wow, wow, wow! I love your fresh and modern take on this card – it’s much better than the original. The colours are gorgeous, and I adore the white on white textured background.
