Heart of Christmas – Joy of Noel

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will  bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

This week I have taken inspiration from a very talented Artisan, Berdien Weideveld from the Netherlands. I saw this card on Instagram and it reminded me of my favourite crumb cake, red and gold colour combo. This is my simpler take on her lovely card.

I always start from the centre and work outwards for square cards, so the music design from the Joy of Christmas DSP is the starting point for this card. It is Pebbled Path rather than Crumb Cake, so a bit darker, but it pairs well with Real Red for the border. The slightly wider border of Basic White is next. I used Foam Adhesive Strips to attach the panel to the Real Red card base that I covered with the Gold and Cherry Cobbler design from the Joyful 12 x 12 Specialty DSP. I chose to use Real Red for  a brighter touch and a little contrast with the Cherry Cobbler berries.

The NOEL is stamped in Real Red and cropped with the coordinating die. I chose to adhere it flat as the 'making spirits bright' is popped up on 1mm foam pads for a little dimension and was heat embossed in gold. I added a trio of gems from the Loose Holly Gems & Sequins and sprigs of foliage in Gold Foil cropped with a die from the Wishes All Around Dies

For the inside I added a strip of the berry paper at the bottom and left a space to create a border for the Basic White writing panel. The greeting from the Brightest Glow stamp set was stamped in Pebbled Path ink.

  1. I agree, the use of Real Red really makes the sentiment pop against the Cherry Cobbler details in the background, Judy. I really like the way you’ve placed the “making spirits bright” part of the sentiment across the NOEL panel. Lovely card.

  2. Judy your card is so elegant with the touches of gold combined with vibrant Real Red. The neutral DSP panel in Pebbled Path is an excellent replacement for Crumb Cake in your favourite festive colour combo.

  3. A very elegant card Judy. The square card base works so well with the Noel greeting. The fuzzy cut sentiment is brilliant and I love the restraint you have shown in adding just the two small golden sprigs.
