CASE-ing the Catty – Cute As A Bug

Hi there,

Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week.

If you’ve come from visiting Rebecca, then welcome!  If you’re visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.

This week we are CASE-ing a scrapbook layout from the 2026 January – April Mini Catalogue. There are some lovely layouts in the Mini Catalogue for inspiration. I decided to make a card inspired by the layout. It is a little tricky compressing elements of a 12 x 12 size project to a standard card. So, I chose the key elements from a relatively simple layout.

I chose the layout above for my inspiration with the 3 matted images on some background layers of patterned paper.

This is a fun, whimsical friendship card inspired by a scrapbook layout. It uses the sweet images from the Cute As A Bug DSP.

I created this whimsical friendship card using the Cute As A Bug Designer Series Paper. The background has 3 strips of patterned paper with the larger one being a tiny floral print and the next smaller strip is an all-over foliage design, both from the Cute As A Bug DSP. To add the pop of colour, I used the red polka dot design from the Made With Love Designer Series Paper for the smallest strip.

Three squares were cropped from one of the sheets of cute bug images. I used the second smallest square die from the Stylish Shapes Dies and matted them onto Old Olive cardstock. For the middle layer, I decided on a contrasting colour rather than another print in Old Olive tones. The distressed yellow Daffodil Delight design is from the Mixed Up Patterns DSP. I have matted it onto Daffofil Delight cardstock for extra pop. The yellow panel was adhered to the card front flat and the bug squares were popped up on 1mm foam pads.

The ‘hello’ greeting from the Sweet Blooms stamp set was stamped in Real Red to tie in with the narrow strip. It was cropped with the second smallest circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies. The circle was popped up on 1mm foam pads to balance the height. I fussy cut two cute little ants who are having a chat, popped up underneath the greeting. The fussy cut butterfly is popped up on a Dimensional and chats with the lady bug holding the flower. I gave all the bugs a touch of Wink of Stella to add some sparkle. The ‘friend’ greeting was masked off and stamped in Real Red ink and hand cut.

For the inside, I have used an Old Olive mat for the writing panel, with a strip of the tiny floral print at the bottom. The ladybug and the flower in the grass were fussy cut and I added Wink of Stella to her back.

I was pleased with how this card turned out and hope it encourages you to look at scrapbook pages for inspiration for your cards. It would also be great as a children’s birthday card.
