CASE-ing the Catty – Favourite Retiring Punch/Die

This is week we're taking inspiration from our favourite retiring punch or die.  

This week I have chosen the Bouquet Bunch Dies as they have been a favourite since they were released. I love that there are extra dies in the set that cut foliage and the extra pieces that really add wow to your card.  It looks like the dies are still available at a discounted price, but the coordinating Beautiful Bouquet stamp set is sold out, unfortunately.  

This week I decided to stay close to the sample as I really loved the layering of the Very Vanilla elements and it is a different kind of look to what I normally do. So the card base is Very Vanilla and I added the panel of lace, using the Stitched Lace Dies. I need a bit more practice die cutting the edges though, but hopefully the untrained won't notice, lol. I used a sponge to add a fine layer of Tombow glue to the reverse side, which ensures you get a good all over coverage. Next is a stitched rectange of Very Vanilla that I ran through with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder, so it would be more noticable.

I started by stamping the flowers, using the faux watercolour technique. You ink up your stamp and then give it a very fine spritz  of water (from about 12" away) and then stamp onto watercolour paper. I used Melon Mambo for the large flowers with some Poppy Parade in the centre and Daffodil Delight on the other flower with Crushed Curry in the centre. I added the dots in the centre with Early Espresso after it had dried. It gives a different look, with the edges slightly softer and more shading in the colour.

I cut lots of foliage pieces in Vellum, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow and Granny Apple Green and then layered it all together over the long stems die cut to give the bouquet length. I wrapped a piece of Burlap Ribbon around the bouquet and cut 2 strands off the edge to create the matching bow.  The birthday greeting is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set in stamped in Early Espresso and cropped with a Stitched Rectangle Die and popped up. I finished with the little heart in Gold Glimmer and a trio of gold Metallic Pearls.

Another week that I didn't get the inside finished, so that is first on my list for tomorrow.
