CASE-ing the Catty – Flowers Fair

Hi there,

Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week.

If you’ve come from visiting Rebecca, then welcome!  If you’re visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.

This week we are CASE-ing the colours from the Easter Joy Specialty DSP.  These are the pretty pastel colors you can see in the graphic below, as you would expect for Easter. The paper has some foiling detail on one side of each double-sided design. It also feels to be a slightly heavier weight than standard patterned paper.

This is a pretty feminine multi-occasion card using the Flowers Fair background stamp with simple colouring.

Floral was my first thought to work all of the colours into a project. I chose the new Flowers Fair background stamp that will become available for customers on 3 March. A partial image was stamped in Early Espresso ink for a slightly less bold outline. Stampin’ Blend alcohol markers were used to colour the image. It would also be lovely water coloured as well. It is really quick and easy to colour the image and there are lots of ways you could use this lovely stamp.

This is the first of the new photopolymer background stamps I have used. Previously they have always been red rubber. The new Stampin’ Positioner is definitely a winner when it comes to stamping background stamps. I have trouble holding the largest acrylic block as it is too wide for my hands. The stamp was positioned over the card stock I had already cut to size and it was super easy to get a clean, crisp image.

I decided on a Balmy Blue card base and added the Basic White layer. To add some subtle texture it was dry embossed with the Beautiful Pattern Embossing Folder. It doesn’t show up well in the photos, however. The image was added to a Balmy Blue mat with a narrow border. I added the sweet Balmy Blue Gingham Ribbon around the art panel and popped it up on the card base.

The greeting from the Friendly Foliage stamp set was heat embossed in white on Balmy Blue card stock and cropped with the banner from the Stylish Shapes Dies. It is a really flexible sentiment and I can add something more specific on the inside when I know the occasion. To add dimension to this simple layout, I coloured another 2 of the flowers and fussy cut them and popped them up over the top. I manage to squeeze in Crumb Cake on the project with the trio of Pearls of Beauty embellishments.

For the inside I have a Pretty in Pink mat for the writing panel. I stamped and coloured the large flower in the bottom corner, but in hindsight should have masked off the small flower on the right. You can position the stamp either vertically or horizontally on the Stampin’ Positioner platform. Stamping the partial image was made easy by placing the stamp long ways and then I could position my card stock wherever I wanted.

This is a sweet and simple card and I probably wouldn’t have chosen this colour combo, but I’m pleased with how it turned out.
