Rustic Roosters
Hello again
Last night was Stamp Club night, my favourite night of the month! There was lots of laughter, cheeky banter, chocolate and of course some stamping. My goal for the evening was to try out this Level 2 Hostess stamp set – Rustic Rooster. This is one of the free stamp sets you can choose when when you host a workshop with orders of $600 or more.
I have used the Mojo Monday Week #89 sketch for the design. The base card is 14.5 cm x 14.5 cm in So Saffron. The top portion is Riding Hood Red cardstock that I have randomly stamped with the feather and postmark stamps in Versamark ink. Versamark produces a great background on darker coloured cardstock. The bottom portion is one of the designs from the Riding Hood Red Designer Series Paper. Across the join is some twill tape with a jumbo brass eyelet inserted with a Crop-a-dile.
I have inked the rooster with Cholocate Chip ink and then wiped off with a cotton bud the sections that I wanted to colour with the Stampin’ Write markers and stamped it on Very Vanilla cardstock. The edges have been sponged with Chocolate Chip ink and then the corners paper pierced. I have matted the rooster on Riding Hood Red and Chocolate Chip. The Very Vanilla circle has been stamped with the script in Chocolate Chip and matted on a scallop circle, both cut with Nestabilities. Finally, the postmark has been stamped and punched out and popped up on a Riding Hood Red circle.

For the second card, I wanted to use up the remaining Riding Hood Red background and create a card that was more masculine. This time I have used Basic Gray for the base card with the same Riding Hood Red colours for the next layer. The rooster has been stamped with Basic Gray on Whisper White and then matted onto More Mustard and then Basic Gray. I have punched the edge with the spiral punch for interest. The sentiment is from the Basic Phrases stamp set stamped in Basic Gray with the corners rounded and edged with Basic Gray. Finally, I have added 2 silver brads that resemble Philips head screws. My husband was not convinced that it would be suitable for a male, but I guess it is all in the eye of the beholder! Here it is anyway.

Beautiful cards, Judy; I really do admire your straight lines and perfect placement, despite the raucous laughter last night!! Peter should perhaps stick to what he knows best, because that second card is perfect for a male – love it!
Cool cards Judy. My fave is definitely the second one as well. That More Mustard layer really makes the image pop.
