Merry Monday #44

Hi there

Happy New Year!  I hope you have all enjoyed your holidays and are well into fulfilling your New Year's resolutions (ha ha).  I had a very hectic time leading up to Christmas.  I finished up at my job after more than 7 years and that was a very emotional time.  Then the lead into Christmas, trying to get all of my Christmas crafting finished before we left for the drive to New South Wales to join my husband's family for Christmas. We stopped off in Canberra for a couple of days to show our Rotary Exchange student, Lars, our national capital.  We then picked up my lovely MIL Betty from the airport and continued our journey.  It was a lovely family Christmas and Lars got to experience Christmas the Aussie way.  Fortunately, where we were, the weather was quite mild on Christmas day for turkey and all the trimmings.

I hope you aren't too horrified that I am starting off the year with a Christmas card!  I figure it is easier to keep in the groove than try and get back into it, later in the year. Lesley is back with Merry Monday and is mixing it up a bit with a colour challenge this week for Merry Monday #44.  I have made a couple of crafting resolutions, and one of them is to try more colour challenges, which I find a bit scary. Here are colours, which are a fabulous combo for Christmas:

My card is very clean and simple, but hopefully that doesn't mean boring or even worse, insipid! I have used the Delicate Designs embossing folder for the first time, to create a frame for the lovely sentiment from the 'Greetings of the Season' stamp set.

I have used the debossed side which provides  lots of texture and sprayed it with Frost White shimmer mist for a lovely sparkle.  You can't see it in the photo above, but this one gives you an idea of how it looks. I also sprayed the sentiment after I embossed it.

I like to decorate the inside of my cards as well and I found this added a lot of time when I went to actually send my Christmas cards, when I was already under time pressure. So this year, another of my resolutions is to decorate the inside at the time I make the card.  This is the inside of the card.
