Heart of Christmas – Pretty Poinsettia

Hi there
Welcome to the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop for 2026. Each week until end of November, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects. It might seem early to be thinking about Christmas, but it truly will be here before we know it!
For my card this week, I’m using the Pretty Poinsettia Bundle, which was in the July Online Exclusives release. I have a self-confessed weakness for Poinsettia’s both real and the paper version, too! This bundle has some lovely greetings with a full flower image in the stamp set and the detailed Impressions dies that crop the different sized layers with lots of dimension.

This is my version of the lovely card made by Creative Stamping Designs. As a lover of all things pink, my heart was captured when I saw Karen’s card and I had to make my own version.
The card base is Barely Blush with another layer of Barely Blush that has been dry embossed with my favourite Softly Woven 3D Embossing Folder. The banner was cropped with the Party Banners Dies and I added some extra length at the top. The greeting was heat embossed in gold and the banner attached to the card base.

The Poinsettia flower was cropped from Barely Blush vellum from the Sunset Shimmer Vellum Specialty Paper. I lovely the subtle sparkle and lightness the vellum adds to the flower. However, it was a bit tricky to prevent it cracking when using the Impressions Dies. I had to reduce the pressure of the embossing sandwich and that helped a lot. Having said that, when the flower is put together, you can’t really notice the odd crack anyway. I used Gold Foil for the centre and added a retired Flower Accent in the centre.
I wanted to keep the colors soft, so I used the 4-petal die to create the leaves from Pool Party cardstock. They do not have the ‘puffiness’ of the flower petals, as I didn’t do the Impressions embossing step. The flower was laid over the retired Gold Striped ribbon and then the leaves placed into position. I finished with a trio of the 2026-2028 In Color Dots.

For the inside, I have a Basic White writing panel with the greeting from the Stitched Stocking stamp set in the centre. Pine branches were stamped down the side with a little Poinsettia flower in amongst them.

If you like this colour combo, you may want to try the 2026–2028 In Color 12″ X 12″ Pearlized Specialty Paper. I don’t think it would have the same issues with cracking, but will give a slight different look, being

Wow, Judy, I absolutely love this pretty, pink poinsettia card! It’s so soft and feminine – one of the nicest poinsettia cards I’ve ever seen!
This is such a pretty card Judy, I just love the pink poinsettia and the lovely embossed background as well! I have been resisting the poinsettia dies but you are making it very hard with this absolutely gorgeous card!
