Heart of Christmas – Whimsy & Wonder
Welcome to Heart of Christmas for 2021. Each week (until mid-December), the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects. I know it may seem early to be talking about holiday projects, but once we hit the middle of the year, the months fly by soooo fast!
Today I've used the new Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Paper as the focus for my card. This is right out there in terms of contemporary Christmas colours, being pretty pastels that would look right at home for Easter or spring creations. I've chosen the pretty baubles design that is highlighted with silver foil accents.

I haven't used this layout for a few years and I'm not sure whether it has a name. It was demonstrated at a Stampin' Up! Convention, that much I do remember. Anyway, I started with a Polished Pink card base, which is one of the main colours in the paper. Knowing I wanted to pop up the sections, I adhered the designer paper to a piece of Basic White and then cut it on an angle. You can cut it on any angle you like, but I didn't want mine to be too sharp. I added a narrow border of Polished Pink to each edge and trimmed it off. The sections were popped up at the top and bottom of the card base, leaving the gap in the centre.
You would normally stamp a greeting between the two sections, but instead I adhered a piece of the lightly patterned Mint Macaron design to create a background for the 'happy' die cut, which is from the Christmas Cheer Dies. I have adhered two Misty Moonlight die cuts together to make it sturdier and the top layer was embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder for some texture. I adhered the die cut on the top and bottom edges where it touches and placed a small piece of Dimensional under areas that weren't supported. The 'christmas' from the Words of Cheer stamp set was stamped in Polished Pink ink on Basic White and trimmed to a narrow rectangle and popped up. I finished with some small stars at each end and a sprinkle of 2021-23 In Color Jewels.

For the inside I have a Misty Moonlight mat (although it looks darker) for the writing panel and I've rounded the corners on both pieces. I added the sweet stitched border with the Stitched with Whimsy Dies. In the corner is a fussy cut bauble and Mint Macaron and Polished Pink holly.

Wow this is such a lovely card Judy using that beautiful DSP but I love the cut centre and placement of the word ’Happy’.
Judy I love your card. I am a big fan of this DSP but I find this particular one difficult to work with yet, you have made it look so easy with your terrific design.
This is a very pretty card, Judy. I love the addition of the In Color Jewels, and the decoration of the inside. 🙂
Oh, so pretty, Judy. The DSP is gorgeous, I love how your card design really lets it shine.

Judy – I agree with what Michele said – although I love this DSP I find the pattern you chose for your card quite challenging, but your lovely design works so very well.
Your Christmas card is very bright and fun! It screams happy and joyful. I love it.
What a lovely card to feature the beautiful DSP. Love the addition of the ornament inside too.
A lovely card Judy. This is my absolute favourite Christmas DSP pack and I love how you have used this particular pattern in your design.
