Easter Cross Card for Mum

Hi there

Today I want to share an Easter card I made to send my Mum who lives in another state. She loves receiving happy mail and enjoys putting my cards on display for people to see and comment on. In November last year when I was clearing out her house to sell, I found more than 120 cards that I had sent to her over the years. Some I was embarrassed to see from my early card making days (well before Stampin’ Up!) and it was also like a journey through Stampin’ Up! catalogues over my almost 16 years as a Demonstrator. Mum has now gone into residential care, so I brought the cards home with me to keep for her.

This is the card I made her with a 3D pop-out cross on the front. The purple colour symbolizes penance and reflection leading up to Easter and the white, gold and lovely floral design representing the joy and celebration of the resurrection. I have used Blackberry Bliss for the card base and the floral design from the beautiful Regal Winter DSP that is now discounted in the Last Chance category in the Online Store. This style of card would also be perfect for a sympathy, First Communion, or Confirmation occasion by changing the colours and sentiment. It stands beautifully for display and folds flat to send by mail.

This photo gives you a better idea of the wonderful dimension that you get from this design. There are a few different ways of creating a cross card but I like the simplicity of this style and I have customised the measurements to make the card a little larger than standard, but it still folds flat to post in an International C6 envelope.

I couldn’t find a suitable sentiment in my stash, so I created this one on my computer and then cropped it with the 3rd smallest die from the Spotlight on Nature Dies. I think the ‘sunburst’ border is perfect for this sentiment. I added a little foliage and flower embellishment to coordinate with the Regal Winter paper.

For the inside I have the same layers under the message panel to mirror the front of the card. Mum loves a nice verse in a card, so I created this with my computer and printed it onto Basic White and trimmed it to size.
