Easel Polo Shirt Card for the Guys
It’s Father’s Day on Sunday in Australia, so I thought it would be timely to show you this polo shirt easel card. It is perfect for the guys for a birthday or Father’s Day. The shirt card has been around for ages and there are lots of different ways to make it, some quite complicated. However, this easel style isn’t difficult and it also has the option for a gift card holder.

The easel style is so simple, but really effective for display. I have chosen a plaid design from the Timeless Plaid 6″ x 6″ DSP and paired it with (retired) Boho Blue cardstock. There are lots of designs and colours in this pack, so you’re sure to find one to suit your taste.

The front panel of the easel has been covered with the plaid paper and the ‘sleeves’ are sandwiched between the DSP and card stock. The clever part is the 1″ cut at top on each side, that allows you to fold in the sides to create the collar. I have used the (retired) Stitched Rectangle Dies for the placket and pocket and added the Adhesive-Backed Textured Dots for buttons. The Textured dots are the perfect for adding texture and some masculine ‘bling’. They are currently reduced in the Last Chance category if you want to grab some. I also added a monogram to the pocket to personalise the card for Mum’s hubby who is having a birthday soon. You could also use small number dies for a milestone birthday.

I have used the (retired) Stitched So Sweetly Dies for the nesting labels that are popped up so the shirt front can lock into place, but any nesting dies would work. The greeting is from the (retired) Potted Geraniums stamp set, stamped in Boho Blue ink and adhered to the larger label cropped from Pecan Pie cardstock. I finished the label with a couple of Textured Dots and a popped up star.

The reverse side of the easel base is where I have put the panel for your personal message. There is a Pecan Pie mat and a leftover strip of the plaid paper at the base. Another greeting was stamped on the panel in Boho Blue ink. You can see from this view, that I have made the sleeves double-sided so you see the plaid design on both sides. I think this adds a professional finish to the card, rather than seeing a random unrelated design from the back view. You can get all the required pieces (including the 2 sides for the sleeves) from a single 6″ x 6″ piece of plaid paper.

The final piece is the optional Gift Card pocket behind the shirt. I have used Pecan Pie Two-Tone cardstock for this, to reduce the bulk on the folds. The greeting from the (retired) Attention Shoppers stamp set was heat embossed in white before punching out the small thumb nail.

Finally, this is the shirt card with the easel folded down. The sleeves are folded in when you are ready to put it in the mail, but they spring back again.
