CASE-ing the Catty – Scenic Coast DSP

Hi there,

Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week.

If you’ve come from visiting Peta & Marvi, then welcome!  If you’re visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.

This week we are CASE-ing the colours of the Scenic Coast DSP from the 2026 May – August Catalogue. This patterned paper is quite special. The hand painted sunrise/sunset scenes are beautiful and the iridescent foil accents shining on the water take it to the next level. This paper has proven to be very popular with customers and Stampin’ Up! is having a hard time keeping it in stock.

These are an interesting group of colours. I could see the first 3 together for a beachy theme and the last 3 together for a pastel floral theme, but all together they are not a combo I would have ever come up with. This is the wonder of the artist who can see past the obvious and come up with something amazing!

This fun Z Fold card is perfect for showcasing 6 x 6 scenery style papers. It has a great 'wow; factor when you open to the full sunset scene.

I have chosen one of my favourite panels from the Scenic Coast Specialty DSP that incorporates all of the colours and is bright enough to allow the Night of Navy silhouettes to pop. This card was inspired by Rachel Tessman’s fun fold using the 6 x 6 scenery papers. The design was modified to fit the standard metric card, which is taller and narrower than the standard imperial card.

The card base is balmy blue and I added the strip of Balmy Blue shimmer paper on the left that was dry embossed with the (retired) Soft Waves 3D embossing folder. This paper is from the Sunset Shimmer Vellum 12 x 12 Specialty Paper pack. The scenery panel was trimmed to fit the height and then cut into 3 pieces. The front panel is adhered onto the smallest fold and it extends out to the right edge of the card base. For a robust finish I recommend adding the panel to a piece of Balmy Blue card stock of the same size. This will ensure the paper won’t curl or become dog-eared and does not show the strip of the reverse design when the card is open.

I die cut 2 of the net pieces from Timid Tiger card stock and adhered them together to make them robust, so I could hang the anchor charm from the net. The sail boat was die cut from Night of Navy and separated from the frame and popped up on the front. The trio of birds was positioned over the 3 panels, which you can see below. The greeting from the Fabulous Sayings stamp set was stamped in Night of Navy and fussy cut.

When the card is open flat, you see the full sunset scene. The lighthouse was cropped from Night of Navy and trimmed to fit at the bottom of the right hand panel. I coloured some of the white Sunset Shimmer Paper with a Daffodil Delight Blends marker to add a glow to the windows of the house and lighthouse.

You could use the right panel for your personal greeting, but I prefer to have a secondary greeting and use the reverse side of the card for the private message. I’ve used one of my favourite greetings from the (retired) Layering Leaves stamp set. The set of shells from the Sunset Coast Dies were softly ink blended with a coat of Wink of Stella for sparkle.

On the reverse side of the card, I have a white writing panel with the small strip I trimmed off the bottom of the DSP. The greeting from the Phrases & Frames stamp set was stamped in Night of Navy ink towards the top.
