CASE-ing the Catty – Traditions of Christmas Bauble

Hi there,
Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week.
If you’ve come from visiting Rebecca, then welcome! If you’re visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.

This week we are CASE-ing a project from the 2025 September-December Catalogue that features animals. This was a little tricky, as I have used the squirrels as inspiration for a previous card.

I chose this project in the photo above from page 19 of the Mini Catalogue for my inspiration. It doesn’t look very inspiring but this simple layout is very versatile. You can always take a basic layout and step it up to make something you love.

I decided to create a big beautiful bauble in place of the small rectangle with the stamped bear image. To do this, I rotated the layout 90o to the right to give me more vertical space. I started with the Basic White Thick card base with the fold at the top. To add texture to the background, I dry embossed a separate panel with the pine branches from the (retired) Wintry 3D Embossing folder.
On the left is the Secret Sea design from the Traditions of Christmas Specialty DSP with a narrow border of Real Red for pop. I love the two-tone card stock for layering, as it is thinner than the normal coloured card stock. The strip was adhered to the embossed panel and then to the card base, leaving a tiny border.

I created my big beautiful bauble by cropping a circle from the Traditions of Christmas paper using the circle die from the Ornamental Christmas Dies. It happens to fit perfectly within the largest pierced circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies. I used Gold Foil to give it a lovely detailed border.
I combined the top from the Bauble Booms Dies with the one in the Ornamental Christmas Dies to create the Gold Foil hanger. To finish, I have some holly leaves coming out the top with sparkly red berries and a trio of Pool Party sequins.
TIP: Have you tried colouring the fabulous sentiments from the Greetings For You Mix & Match Ephemera Pack? You can make the background any colour you wish and I chose Secret Sea to coordinate with my project. I used a Brayer to give it an even coat of ink and wiped off the excess from the gold letters. My brayer is the original rubber version from 15 years ago. The latest silicone version is available in my Online Store. This makes these greetings even more versatile.

For the inside, I have a Real Red mat for the writing panel with a tiny border and the Secret Sea paper at the bottom. The greeting from the Words For The Season stamp set was stamped in Real Red ink. I created a small version of the bauble to place in the corner.
