CASE-ing the Catty – Birthday Fancy Kit

Hi there,
Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week.
If you’ve come from visiting Peta & Marvi, then welcome! If you’re visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.

This week we are CASE-ing a project featuring animals, so that sent me hunting through the catalogue for inspiration.

I chose the project in the photo above from page 50 of the Annual Catalogue. The inspiration I’m taking from it is the scene and there are 3 main elements (the turtles).

I have created my pretty birthday card using the Birthday Fancy Kit. This kit was released last month and has been super popular. Even better, it is discounted 15% during August as it is included in the In Color Sale, as Strawberry Slush is one of the main colors used.
A birthday afternoon tea scene with 3 pretty cakes, is the focus of the card. I have used one of the included card bases with the pretty spotted gold foil background, which sets the party scene. A Strawberry Slush doily was cut in half to create a lacy tablecloth for the cakes to sit on. There are HEAPS of pretty cakes, labels, banners and accessories in the kit and you can create to your heart’s content. This kit is specifically intended for you to create your own designs with the elements, although you also have the images in the kit for inspiration. There are 3 designs for the card bases.

I have popped up the top section of the cake trio to balance out the height and added some extra popped up elements for dimension. I cut off the cup from the left end of the cake trio and popped it up with another cup for more interest.
The birthday greeting from the included stamp set has been stamped in Lost Lagoon ink and fussy cut into 2 pieces. The ink spot is included in the kit, so you have everything you need. I popped up the greeting on 1mm foam pads to add dimension without being too high. You may not have noticed, but I have used Watercolour Pencils to add some additional shading touches to the die cuts for more definition. Just a touch of red on the strawberries, an extra touch of colour on the macaroons and around the icing on the cakes. Some Party dots in Pool Party were scattered about to finish.

For the inside, I have a Strawberry Slush mat for the writing panel and I added another greeting from the included stamp set, stamped in Lost Lagoon ink. Two small die cuts were added to the left corner to complement the front.

I hope this has helped you to get a better view of the Birthday Fancy Kit and all of its possibilities!
