CASE-ing the Catty – Framed Florals in Bloom

Hi there,
Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week.
If you’ve come from visiting Rebecca, then welcome! If you’re visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.

This week we are taking inspiration from projects in the 2025- 2025 Annual Catalogue using Designer Series Paper. I love using Designer Series Paper or patterned paper on my cards as it can really do the heavy lifting in making lovelycards. The in-house concept artists at Stampin’ Up! produce really gorgeous designs and many come directly from the hand drawn and painted artworks they create.

My inspiration today comes from this sample on page 45, which is all about ‘cutting it out’ using dies or fussy cutting images from the designer paper. So doing just that, I created this piece of framed home decor using images from two of the sheets from the Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper. This is paper that keeps on giving, with such a wonderful combination of designs and colurs.

This is the finished frame standing on my glass desk with my feature wall (almost the same colour as the inspiration photo) as the backdrop. The inside area of the frame is 8″ x 8″ and the outside frame size is 11 3/4″ square. You can pick up these frames from discount stores and I got this one at Spotlight, if you are in Australia.

I started by fussy cutting a heap of the floral images from the paper. You can crop two sets of the small flowers with the coordinating dies, but I just fussy cut them all. For the background, I cut a piece of Thick Basic White slightly larger than the centre opening and starting laying out the flowers, trying to get a nice mix of colors and styles. It is a little like a jigsaw puzzle that you are creating on the fly! I did also use the Pretty Florals stamp set for a few additional stamped and die cut images to add to the variety. Most of the fussy cut flowers are adhered flat with the flowers on the stamped stems, being popped up. The tiny Petunia Pop flowers are perfect for filling the little gaps.
The ‘bloom’ is from the Sweet Blooms Dies and was cropped from Gold Foil and added to a Basic White shadow. I adhered it to a strip of Pretty Peacock for a strong contrast and popped up the strip on black Dimensionals. The second sentiment is from the Sweet Blooms stamp set and was stamped in Pretty Peacock ink on Basic White. I finished with a pop of gold from the Flower Accents embellishments at each end of ‘bloom’ for extra sparkle.
I hope you enjoyed this slightly different project tonight. I will enjoy looking at my framed garden of pretty florals as I sit at my desk.
