The Holiday Catalogue goes live for customers in a few days (Wednesday 4 September), so this week we're taking our inspiration from the gorgeous projects on the front cover.

This is the card that I've chosen for my inspiration. Wreaths really say Christmas to me and I love hanging mine on the front door on the 1st of December. This year there is a fabulous new wreath bundle called Tidings All Around, comprising the 9 piece Tidings All Around photopolymer stamp set and the coordinating All-Around Wreath Dies.  You can see them on page 7 of the Holiday Catalogue.

In addition to the lovely wreath stamp and coordinating die, there is an additional die that I have used to create the wreath on my card. The die cut is quite large at 8.5cm (3 3/8") in diameter so I have gone with a square card (12.5cm or approx 5") to allow a bit more space than our A6 metric card would normally have. I have die cut the wreath in Vellum Cardstock and Shaded Spruce card stock which is one of the coordinating colours with Cherry Cobbler, in the Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Paper. I chose the tree design in shades of Cherry Cobbler for the background, to provide a strong contrast. The Vellum wreath went on first and then I offset the Shaded Spruce wreath to provide the illusion of extra fullness and tone down the Cherry Cobbler background. I popped it up on 1mm foam pads (just around the centre where there is a large leaf) and that also adds nice dimension.

The greeting is also from the Tidings All Around stamp set and I've stamped it in Cherry Cobbler ink on Very Vanilla and cropped it with a stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies.  I added a mat of Gold Foil to the circle to coordinate with the Gold Metallic Edge ribbon, that provides a nice contrast to the rich red and green colours.  I attached the ribbon to the back of the circle and popped it up above the wreath.

The small leaves above the greeting are extras in the All-Around Wreath Dies and I added lots of red rhinestones singly and in clusters. They are a brighter Real Red colour, but I like the extra pop they add to the rich green of the wreath. Finally, I have a heart in Red Glimmer Paper cropped using the Stitched Be Mine Dies for the finishing touch.

For the inside, I have cut the leftover strip from the sheet of 6" x 6" Wrapped in Plaid designer paper in half and placed the strips down each side. The Very Vanilla writing panel has a strip of Shaded Spruce gingham DSP at the base and sits on a mat of Shaded Spruce card stock.  The front of the card is very classic and formal looking, so I added a touch of fun with the 'to be jolly' die cut using the Jolly Season Dies in Red Glimmer Paper.

  1. Gorgeous, gorgeous card, Judy. Those red berries are just divine. Love the extra layer of vellum under the top wreath and the way you’ve popped it up on dimensionals makes such a difference to the final look. I didn’t think I needed this set but you’ve just convinced me it is a must have.

  2. I love the die cut wreath and it looks great on the square card. Great choice of DSP behind the wreath too.
