This week, our challenge is to CASE a layout from Page 103 of the Annual Catalogue and change the theme.

I decided to CASE the cute baby gift bag in the photo above, which I've cropped out so you can see it better.  I decided to change from a 3D item to a card and the theme to a feminine birthday.

Stampin' Up! Bloom & Grow - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I started  with a piece of Balmy Blue card stock embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder that I found in my scrap bag and used a Layering Squares die to cut the aperture. I placed it on the thick Whisper White card base and traced around the aperture and used that to position another Layering Squares die, resulting in a double frame. I added foam strips to the Balmy Blue panel and popped it up over the white card base so that it would stay firm and not go saggy.

I could have stamped the greeting on the inside of the card, so you could see through the frame, but I decided to stamp the lovely greeting from the Rare Blessings stamp set in Blueberry Bushel ink on another panel of Whisper white and adhered it to the inside and it covered the not so nice back of the die cut.

I have stamped and coloured the lovely blossom spray from the Bloom & Grow stamp set and popped it up at the bottom of the frame.  I used Stampin' Blends alcohol markers in Balmy Blue, Rococo Rose, So Saffron and Granny Apple Green. I didn't want to cover the frame, so I added a double bow of silver/white Baker's Twine at the base of the flowers.

For the inside I have a Balmy Blue mat for the writing panel and a strip of Balmy Blue Gingham at the base. I fussy cut part of the floral spray and added it to corner. The birthday greeting is from the Perennial Birthday stamp set and stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink.

  1. What an absolutely stunning card and an amazing case! You’ve done a great job switching up this gift bag to a card which any friend would love. I love how you did the double frame. Beautiful card.

  2. Fabulous card, Judy, and a great CASE – I love how the bag has inspired your card design. Gorgeous colouring and I really like the layering of the squares to create a frame. I hadn’t really noticed that sentiment before so this has caused me to take another look at that stamp set, thank you 🙂
