CASE-ing the Catty – Sale-a-bration!

We are taking our inspiration from the Sale-a-bration Brochures again this week and I am looking at this photo on page 8 of the main brochure and the sweet note card that I have circled in the bottom right.
I love embellishments and I'm a bit of hoarder. I didn't want the cute Butterfly Elements to end up in the bottom drawer, so I decided to use some on a note card. I wanted my note card to have a bit more punch than the sample and this is what I came up with.
I like a larger note card, so I have created a card base that is 9.9cm square, so that you can get 3 from a sheet of A4 card stock or 4 from a 12" x 12" sheet. On the Balmy Blue layer I have a square of the black and white spotted paper from the Botanical Butterfly Designer Paper pack, layered on black card stock with a narrow border.
I roughly cut a butterfly from the sheet in the Botanical Butterfly Designer Paper pack and adhered it to a scrap of Whisper White. I recommend you do this if you intend popping up your butterflies; it makes them a lot more robust. The butterfly was coloured with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers and then cropped with the Butterfly Duet Punch. I used a piece of the 1/8" Foam Strip under the body to pop up the butterfly as it works with the height of the wooden elements. I added the white embossed greeting at the bottom first, which is from the Wishing You Well stamp set. The butterfly was popped up next and finally the wooden elements under the wings, adhered with glue dots. The butterfly wings are not attached to the wooden elements, so I have gently lifted them for extra a little extra dimension.
For the inside I have another layer of Balmy Blue and I've used the Rectangle Stitched Framelits to create the square writing panel. I finished with the matching small butterfly in the top corner, coloured in the same shades. Coordinating Gingham Gala Designer Paper was added to the back flap of the 10.5cm square envelope. I love having a stash of cute note cards ready to use, so one thing led to another and I ended up with this.
This set of note cards would make a lovely gift, so I made a pizza-style box to fit the note cards and envelopes.
Finally, I added my favourite colour to the top of the box to finish it off.

I absolutely adore the balmy blue with the black, Judy. And then I saw all the other colours as well! What a fabulous little set. I do love a set like this. And that stitched sqare on the inside is such a nice touch. I love these!!
