Garden in a Box

Hi there

Before getting down to today's project I have to share with you, I wanted to mention that my March class is on Saturday 15 March and there are 2 places remaining.  You can see all of the details here. Drop me an email to make your booking.

I have made this card for a friend's birthday. She lives in the country and has a lovely garden, so I thought this bunny in the garden 'Card in a box' would be appropriate.  These cards are great for special occasions and fun to make as well. I have used the gorgeous 'Sweet Sorbet' Designer Paper that is FREE during Saleabration (until 31 March 2014) and the coordinating Pool Party card stock.

The flowers are quick and easy with the 'Petite Petals' stamp set and matching punch. For the picket fence I stamped the 'Hardwood' background stamp and then embossed with the Stripes embossing folder and cut away every second stripe. The plants and grass in front of the fence were created with the fringe scissors and the tiny flowers use a stamp from the Saleabration set 'Banner Blast', punched out with the flower punch from the Itty Bitty punch pack.

This is the back panel of the box which I have also decorated with some Crisp Cantaloupe DSP, embossing and more Petite Petals flowers.

I put 3 'bridges' into my box, so it was quite thick when it was folded up and as you can see from the photo above, I had a few leaves hanging over the edge as well.  I didn't want to squash it flat, so I made a custom envelope box a 1/2" deep using 12 x 12 Whisper White card stock and the Envelope Punch Board . This is the front of the 'boxelope' embellished with a banner using another of the 'Sweet Sorbet' designs and the 'Flower Shop' stamp set, 'Deco' Framelits and the matching stamped frame from the 'Morning Post Numbers' stamp set.

I thought I would show you how I created a neat closing for the 'boxelope', as I didn't want to stick the flap down. I used the retired 'slit' punch to create the semi-circular cut  in a small piece of card stock and then punched it out with a 1" circle punch. The circle was positioned and adhered under the side flaps and then the top flap neatly fits into the opening. Another opportunity to decorate the back of the 'boxelope' as well! I was really pleased with the result - don't you love it when you can bring your ideas to fruition!
