Christmas in July

Hi there

It has been a busy month with 'Christmas in July' activities. The first opportunity to get out my Christmas supplies was for one of my classes. I purchased the 'Joyful Christmas' stamp set last year and didn't get around to using it, so I enjoyed making this card.

I have embossed the poinsettia flower in silver on vellum card stock and then fussy cut the flower twice, popping up the inner layer. The centre is cut with the Petite Petals punch from silver glimmer paper and finished with pearls. The greeting has been embossed white on the silver foil. I think white and silver is a classic combo for Christmas.

I also took the opportunity to use my favourite Ornament Keepsake stamps and matching framelits again. I will be sorry to see these retire as they are so classic and elegant. I've used Cherry Cobbler and Night of Navy for this card, with the Stylish Stripes embossing folder.

This is another version of the same design, but reversed in Wild Wasabi and Real Red. 

My husband's Rotary club also had a Christmas in July function, so I made some table decorations to add a festive touch. I made 44 of these cute triangle (tree) shaped favour boxes to have one at each place setting in alternating the colours. I got the idea from my lovely friend Nikki who made this box using items from the Hip Hip Hooray kit. I have stamped the retired Polka Dots background in Whisper White craft ink on retired Raspberry Ripple and Gumball Green card stock. The greeting comes from the new 'Hello There' Hostess set we were given at Convention.

I put a paper hat, corny joke and a couple of Cadbury Favourites chocolates into the box and tied it with the new 1/8" gold ribbon.

Finally, I made these trees for the table centres. The base tree is from a free printable template which I have altered and then glued to a base of Garden Green card stock for extra support. The 2 pieces slot together via a cut in the top half of one piece and cut in the bottom half of the other. The baubles were punched out with the 1 1/4" Scallop Circle punch and then attached to the tree with white Baker's twine bows. They looked really cute. It was all a bit of a rush at the end, so I was grateful that a lovely friend was able to help me finish all the baubles. They pack flat, so are easy to store for reuse at another time.
